False Bay College – Westlake – Centre for Entrepreneurship – 10 May
Who would have thought that a group of Cape Town entrepreneurs, beneficiaries of training at False Bay College, would take to our Be an Actor for a Day programme with such gusto and commitment!
We had an awesome day with them, teaching some basic vocal skills, relaxation and breathing, how to engage with an audience and then ending with their performances to a pop-up audience from the College.
These were the three top take-outs from the programme according to the participants and manager – Centre for Entrepreneurship had to say:
” Do something outside your comfort zone. Without exception, the 9 folk who participated in the day are amateur actors at best, having little acting experience overall. In order to participate, it meant overcoming some concerns and fears. Yet in doing so, they grew considerably in various ways”.
” Consider taking in new challenges with others. The camaraderie experienced was also meaningful and valuable. Entrepreneurs walk a lonely path, and events like these highlight how important a strong supportive environment can be.”
” Have Fun! The group of young people had much fun as they learnt to pronounce, project and in some cases ….pretend. The entrepreneurial journey is highly demanding and challenging; so interspersing this with genuine fun is significant. Don’t forget to have fun on your journey.”
These entrepreneurs showed us exactly why they will succeed in any business venture they undertake – we were proud of what we achieved together.
